Coro Alba / vocal ensemble

Coro Alba can be any number of between eight and twenty professional singers, who provide a rich timbre of choral sound for any occasion. They’re equally as happy entertaining in an opera gala style event, with humour, quality singing and eloquent stage presence, as in backing visiting celebrities in some of Scotland’s larger venues.
They sing a mixture of solos, duets, trios, quartets and choral numbers from a wide variety of music – opera, operetta, songs from the shows, Gilbert and Sullivan, Scottish songs and songs by popular composers including Ivor Novello.
Under the management of Daisy Henderson, Coro Alba have performed in Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, twice with John Innes, the People’s Tenor, with Josh Groban, and as part of a Raymond Gubbay Christmas extravaganza, and in the Clyde Auditorium with The Priests when they came to perform in Glasgow.
They also provide entertainment for any kind of venue in Scotland, having travelled as far afield as Thurso and Cromarty and Stranraer, for extremely well-received concerts, often being asked back.
Coro Alba is connected with Opera Alba, a vocal quartet of professional singers, also managed by Daisy Henderson.
One of their engagements involved 15 singers performing as Josh Groban’s backing choir in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.
Coro Alba has also sung in front of the lovely Abbey House as part of Culross Festival. The eight singers were accompanied by Alba Strings, a string quartet, with Derek Clark on keyboard. The windy weather made it a challenging performance with clothes pegs being put to good use to hold the instrumentalists’ music onto their stands! The cobbled terrace also made high heels a bit of a danger to life and limb! However a very warm, welcoming and hugely appreciative audience made everything worthwhile.

Coro Alba has appeared for Beith Arts Guild, Cramond Kirk, Cromarty Arts Trust, Culross Festival, Dollar Music Society, Newton start and /District Music Society, Osprey Music Society (Boat of Garten), Stranraer Music for All, Thurso Live Music Association and has provided backing singers for John Innes, the People’s Tenor in Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, for Josh Groban in Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and for the Priests in The Clyde Auditorium.
