Steven Faughey / baritone
Originally from Redcar, now living in Lenzie, Steven studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD) with Bill McCue and Jeff Nielson Taylor.
His operatic experience has been with D’Oyly Carte Opera Company, Garsington Festival Opera and Scottish Opera where he was in the full time chorus until 2005.
Steven continues to be employed regularly by Scottish Opera as a freelance chorister and in small roles. He also often works with Scottish Opera’s Education Department.
Operatic roles performed and covered: Antonio in The Marriage of Figaro, Papageno in The Magic Flute, Mustafa in Italian Girl in Algiers, Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor, Falke in Die Fledermaus, Ford in Falstaff, Talbot in Maria Stuarda, Second Priest in Magic Flute, Alcindoro in Tosca, Official Registrar in Madama Butterfly and Ambrogio in Il Barbiere de Siviglia.
Concert soloist: role of Jake Wallace in Edinburgh Festival’s 2010 production of La Fanciulla del West in the Usher Hall.
Oratorio work includes Handel’s Messiah, Judas Maccabeus, Israel in Egypt, Fauré’s Requiem, Haydn’s Creation, Stainer’s Crucifixion, Mozart Requiem, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria and Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana.
