Geoffrey Tanti / pianist / accompanist

Geoffrey Tanti is a pianist and repetiteur based in Glasgow. Born in Malta , Geoffrey studied piano with Cynthia Turner before moving to the UK to study at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Dvorak/Kreisler:  Slavonic Fantasy in B minor, with Feargus Hetherington

He studied with British concert pianist Jonathan Plowright and graduated with a Masters in Piano Performance with Distinction. In 2008 he was awarded a Fellowship in piano accompaniment which led to a year of work as a Junior Fellow Accompanist at the RCS. Geoffrey has had many performing opportunities including a performance of the Poulenc piano concerto with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the Jolivet concertino for trumpet, piano and strings with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. He has also won the Hester Dickson Prize for Best Accompanist in the Lieder Competition, the Alex Menzies Memorial Fund, the Philip Halstead prize for piano and the Leonard Hancock Repetiteur Prize. He has played in masterclasses with Malcolm Martineau, Julius Drake and Roy Howard. More recently Geoffrey has graduated again with a Masters in Repetiteur studies at the RCS under the tuition of Julia Lynch. He is the resident accompanist of various choirs in Scotland and also works as a freelance teacher, accompanist and repetiteur/vocal coach. He has worked as repetiteur with Scottish Opera (La Traviata 2012), Scottish Opera Connect Chorus as well as Opera Bohemia (Madama Butterfly 2013, and Eugene Onegin 2014)
