"The audience loved it, and the remark from the floor that we could not but be a good audience was a reflection of the whole company. Comments like - 'a great afternoon', 'have them again, you'll double your audience' and 'a delightful way to spend a cold Sunday afternoon', were made as people left.

As usual all of you did not disappoint and hopefully we can have another dose of your musical medicine."

Beith Arts Guild, 25th March 2013

"From the first chord on the piano it was clear that the opening concert of Stranraer Music for All’s new season would be the perfect antidote to the wet October evening. By the time they had finished, eyes were sparkling and toes were tapping throughout the theatre.... fine ensemble singing from the group and the variety of form to be found within the Gilbert and Sullivan repertoire.... The clarity of the diction that we had already come to expect meant that none of the wit was missed."

Stranraer and Wigtownshire Free Press - published Thursday 15th November, 2012

"On Friday 29th November in Thurso we had an absolutely wonderful programme of opera and songs from the shows, performed with style and panache by Coro Alba and their superb accompanist, Derek Clark.  They gave us an evening of joy and our audience were all enchanted with their singing.  Thurso Live Music could not have had a better concert than this to celebrate our Golden Jubilee."

Margaret Smedley, Treasurer, Thurso Live Music Association

Coro Alba / vocal ensemble

Coro Alba can be any number of between eight and twenty professional singers, who provide a rich timbre of choral sound for any occasion. They’re equally as happy entertaining in an opera gala style event, with humour, quality singing and eloquent stage presence, as in backing visiting celebrities in some of Scotland’s larger venues.

They sing a mixture of solos, duets, trios, quartets and choral numbers from a wide variety of music – opera, operetta, songs from the shows, Gilbert and Sullivan, Scottish songs and songs by popular composers including Ivor Novello

Under the management of Daisy Henderson, Coro Alba have performed in Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, twice with John Innes, the People’s Tenor,  with Josh Groban, and as part of a Raymond Gubbay Christmas extravaganza,  and in the Clyde Auditorium with The Priests when they came to perform in Glasgow.

They also provide entertainment for any kind of venue in Scotland, having travelled as far afield as Cromarty and Stranraer, for extremely well-received concerts, often being asked back, and going even further afield to Thurso in November 2013.

Coro Alba is connected with Opera Alba, a vocal quartet of professional singers, also managed by Daisy Henderson. For more information on both Opera Alba and Coro Alba, please visit

One of their most recent engagements involved 15 singers performing as Josh Groban’s backing choir in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. In this clip, unfortunately only eight of the singers can be seen as the other seven are out of vision on the right!

Coro Alba sang in front of the lovely Abbey House as part of Culross Festival.  The eight singers were accompanied by Alba Strings, a string quartet, with Derek Clark on keyboard.  The windy weather made it a challenging performance with clothes pegs being put to good use to hold the instrumentalists’ music onto their stands!  The cobbled terrace also made high heels a bit of a danger to life and limb!  However a very warm, welcoming and hugely appreciative audience made everything worthwhile.

Coro Alba has appeared across Scotland for Beith Arts Guild, Cramond Kirk, Cromarty Arts Trust, Culross Festival, Dollar Music Society, Osprey Music Society (Boat of Garten), Stranraer Music for All,  Thurso Live Music Association and has provided backing singers for John Innes, the People’s Tenor in Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, for Josh Groban in Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and for the Priests in The Clyde Auditorium.

Next scheduled performance in Newton Stewart on 18 February 2018!
