Charlotte Sager / harp
Charlotte gained her Bachelor of Music with Honours degree at the RSAMD, under the tutelage of Karen Vaughan – co principal harpist with the LSO. She has played with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Opera Orchestra, Glasgow Sinfonia, Glasgow Chamber Orchestra, Hull Philharmonic including numerous performances with the winners of BBC Choir of the Year competition – female chamber choir, Les Sirènes.
Charlotte has performed and entertained in Leeds Town Hall, Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, Edinburgh’s Usher Hall, Glasgow City Halls, The Mitchell Library, Perth Concert Hall, Charles Rennie Mackintosh Church, Glasgow’s Theatre Royal, Glasgow’s Kings Theatre and the Edinburgh Festival Theatre and the National Portrait Gallery.
In addition to many solo engagements, Charlotte has worked closely and recorded with the Freemasons on their collaboration with Bailey Tzuke. Other contemporary performances include music written by Gareth Williams in his opera ‘The Sloans Project’ which was premiered in 2011 and opera NOISE’s first performance, repeated each subsequent year.
She has toured Scotland with a miniature opera group designed by Scottish Opera, to provide smaller scale and more accessible opera to communities. She has also toured and collaborated individually with soprano Daniela Schuster, performing and arranging traditional Spanish songs, Scottish songs and lullabies, after working alongside each other in Scottish Opera’s education department running musical workshops for babies and toddlers.
In addition to orchestral, chamber and solo performance, Charlotte teaches six days a week. She is the harp instructor at Fettes College, St Mary’s Music School’s Saturday classes in Edinburgh and runs her own harp workshops from Blackwell’s book shop.
